Language and Cultural Immersion Program - Uganda Trip code: UGA6
The program enables volunteers to intrinsically learn about Uganda before starting their volunteer project. The 7-day program is designed to give our volunteers a glimpse into life in Uganda and what the mentality of the people is like, and how you can overcome any hurdles you might encounter while in Uganda. For this, you'll learn the local language so you can communicate effectively. You will also tour historic, cultural and religious sites and learn about the prevailing socioeconomic and political situation. It's an intriguing program full of insight into daily life in Uganda.

Program Brief
Day 1:
Short reception at the office of the Rustic Volunteer. Orientation program will follow in which you’ll learn about the current situation in Uganda, including about health and safety. You’re encouraged to ask about anything that you think will be helpful during your stay in Uganda. Our knowledgeable staff will answer all your queries. You’ll also be given a schedule of how your cultural program will proceed.
Day 2:
Start of your local language class. English is widely understood in Uganda. However, the poor uneducated of Uganda only speak and understand their local language and you’ll be interacting and working with these people. You’ll start your program with popular expressions and words.
Day 3:
You'll continue with your language training class. You'll learn in a fun kind of way, interacting and practicing what you've learned with your fellow volunteers and your tutor.
Day 4:
Sightseeing of Kampala. You'll visit places of historical and cultural significance, including museums and ancient ruins.
Day 5:
You'll continue with your language and your learning will step up a notch as you start to construct sentences and communicating more effectively.
Day 6:
You'll continue with your language class. During the language class, your tutor will be passing on valuable information about Uganda, which will include the prevailing cultural practices, and the dos and the don'ts.
Day 7:
Last day of the program - there will be a small appraisal and your strengths and weaknesses in the language you've just learned with be evaluated. Remember this is not a test and you won't fail or pass.
