Detailed Itinerary

Day One: Bangkok / Chiang Mai
The tour starts with a train ride to Chiang Mai. Around 16.30 hrs, you will be transferred to the railway station for the overnight train to Chiang Mai. (-/-/-)

Day Two: Chiang Mai
You will arrive in the northern city of Chiang Mai in the morning. From there, you will be taken to the hotel to spend your day. You can choose the tour the city in the afternoon and witness many attractions including temples and the markets. (-/-/-)

Day Three: Trekking
Your first destination today is Mae Malai. A pick-up truck will take you there in about 90 minutes. In Mae Malai, visit the local market. You will then travel to Pang Lan waterfall for relaxation and lunch. It's a journey of 40-50 minutes from Mae Malai.

Continue on from there after lunch on a truck for about 90 minutes to arrive at Huay Nam Dang National Park. Get off from the truck and start your trek across the forest for about 90 - 120 minutes. You will then arrive at Karen village of Baan Mae Jok. You will halt overnight at the village and enjoy local dinner. (B/D/L)

Day Four: Trekking
Today, the day is full of activities. Get up early and enjoy breakfast. Following that, trek for 3 hours; then cover 7-8 Km. to an elephant camp where you will enjoy sumptuous lunch. Enjoy an elephant ride following that. The languid beast will carry you for about 3.5 km, taking nearly 90 minutes. You will then arrive at Bann Pa Khaolam, a Karen village. The Karens are one of the most well-known tribal minority groups in Thailand. You will stay overnight at Bann Pa Khaolam and enjoy dinner.

You may sometimes stay overnight at a rafting camp near by the village and the elephant riding might take place on the next day. This depends on local conditions and can be informed locally. (B/D/L)

Day Five: Trekking / Chiang Mai
Like in every morning, kick start your day with a breakfast. A bamboo raft will be waiting for you to take you down the river. You will raft for about 90 minutes and cover 20 to 25 Km. to arrive in a small Lahu village of Ban Pong Ngan. Many researchers believe that the Lahu people came from Tibet to settle in Thailand. Their genes have also found in some tribal people of China and Myanmar.

From Lahu tribe, you'll encounter the Shan as you raft further 2 to 2 ½ hours to a Shan village. Enjoy lunch in the village. The Shans are the earliest people to settle in this region. Following lunch, depart for Chiang Mai on a pick-up and get transferred to a hotel.

Day Six: Chiang Mai

The tour begins from Bangkok. The transportation cost to the departure point in Bangkok isn't covered in your volunteer and travel program fees. The responsibility to arrive at the right place and at the right time is solely yours. The exact address of your travel starting point will be given to you in Thailand.

Trekking itinerary is only a guideline and is subject to change without prior notice due to local conditions, but the same concept is well maintained. Not recommend for child under 7 years old for trekking.
