Detail Itinerary
Day Zero: Arrival
When you arrive at Bangkok, our representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. You will relax for the rest of the day.
Day One: Introduction and Orientation
The first day starts with an orientation. The briefing will cover important issues. So please pay good attention. You will be advised transportation system in Bangkok, health and safety issues, provided with information on home base or host family, told about the climate, and you will be informed about your project work and if there are any changes in the tour itinerary. After the orientation, you will tour Ayutthaya. The place is an ancient capital of Thailand and you'll find fascinating ancient ruins and historical art works.
Day Two: Drive to project site
You will travel to your project site. You will also be introduced to the project staff and you will settle in for project work.
Day Three - Thirteen: Volunteer Work (work in disadvantage children project)
During project work, teach English, play games, teach them nursery rhymes and organize many creative activities. You will work with children in primary schools and day-care centers. After 4 pm, you are free to explore the surrounding areas.
Day Fourteen: Explore and Experience Thailand with Bangkok Trip
Bangkok is the capital and the largest city in Thailand. From royal palaces, to monasteries, to red light districts, to canals that crisscross the city, Bangkok offers many fascinations to visitors. Begin with a visit to grand place. You will then visit Wat Pho and Khao San road.
The Kings of Chakri dynasty lived in The Grand Palace. The palace contains ornate building within its confines. The palace grounds also include a treasure house of Thai arts (longest wall painting in the world) and the most revered Buddha image, Emerald Buddha (biggest single piece of jade of the world) in Thailand. Every day 7,000-10,000 people visit the palace.
Wat Pho awaits after the visit to grand palace. Wat Pho is also known as the temple of the reclining Buddha. This massive temple is near the Grand Palace enclave (a 5 minute walk) and displays a colossal gold plated reclining Buddha, some 46 meters long and 15 meters high with mother-of-pearl soles.
Travel to Khao San Road and tour Bangkok's famous hang out for back packers. There are cheap restaurants, guest houses and cafes scattered in between stalls along the streets also selling a variety of tourist trinkets.
Day Fifteen: Trip to Kanchaburi
Many war historians and movie buffs recognize Kanchanaburi because of the 'Death Railway' and the 'Bridge over the River Kwai'. It is also one of the most beautiful provinces in Thailand and Neolithic burial grounds have been found in Kanchanaburi. Travel about 128 kilometers west of Bangkok to arrive at Kanchanaburi. The drive can take 2-3 hours.
The Bridge over the River Kwai
On the banks of Khwai Yai River, the notorious bridge was constructed. The place is about 4 kilometers from T.A.T office. The bridge was brought from Java by the Japanese Army and was assembled at the River Kwai by the war prisoners. Bombed several times in 1945, it was rebuilt after the war again. The curved spans of the bridge are the original sections. An estimated 16,000 war prisoners and 49,000 impressed laborers died during the construction of the bridge and the Death-Railway line that leads to Burma.
JEATH War Museum
The museum was reconstructed were once prisoners of the Second World War was housed in thatched detention huts. JEATH stands for Japan, England, America, Australia, Thailand and Holland. This indicates the number of different nationalities that were housed in the prison camp. Living quarters inside comprise of raised bamboo bunks running the length of the long huts. You can still see how each P.O.W. was allotted a scrimping living space on the bunks. On the walls of the huts are posted actual, enlarged photos and illustrations of the "atrocities" against the prisoners, and the severe living conditions of the P.O.Ws. The museum is on the bank of the Mae Klong River inside Wat (Monastery) Chai Chumphon.
Erawan Waterfall
Visit Erawan Waterfall. The Fall has seven levels of dropping down over 1,500m and is regarded as one the most beautiful in Thailand. A mountainside forest setting includes dense bamboo groves which support numerous bird species. The other attraction in the park is the spectacular Prathat Cave which contains monumental stalagmites. Bungalow accommodation and camping facilities are available.
