Teaching English
Trip code: TZA2

English is a common language spoken in Tanzania because the country was once under British rule. However, there is still a lack of quality English language education for children. Many public schools (or even private school running in rural areas) are looking for qualified English teachers especially the native English speakers. Rustic Volunteer Travels offers volunteers/travelers the opportunity to teach children from extremely deprived areas and encourage them educate themselves. Volunteers working in this English-teaching project can make a meaningful contribution in the lives of local children by sharpening and honing their English skills.

Project/Volunteer's Life:

As a volunteer in the orphanage project in Tanzania , you will teach English (3-4 hours a day) in the orphanage or school (when the kids go to schools during the day). You will teach kids about personal hygiene by helping them in brush their teeth, shower etc. During free time (mostly in evening), you organize games, participate in drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative educational and extracurricular activities. Also during the evening, you will assist with homework, monitor academic progress, and monitor the completion of their next day's assignments. If you do not want to teach in the school during day time, then you can offer to take care of the children who stay at the orphanage (who cannot go to school). Your help is also expected in dressing of kids, food distribution, kitchen, garden, cleaning and administrative work.
