| Project/Volunteer's Life: |
As a volunteer, you will teach English (3-4 hours a day) in the orphanage or school (when the orphaned children attend schools during the day). You will help children to stay clean by helping them in brushing teeth, shower - addressing issues of personal hygiene. In your free time (usually in the evening), volunteers can organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative educational and extra-curricular activities. In the evening time, volunteers help children with their homework as well as monitor academic progress, and ensuring children complete the next day's homework. If volunteers do not wish to teach in school during day time, they can offer care for the children remaining in the orphanage (who can not go to school). Volunteers are also expected to assist in dressing-up of children, distributing food, helping in the kitchen, maintaining the garden, and assisting in assorted, administrative work. |

Sri Lanka is a strategic naval link between West Asia and South East Asia, and has been a center of Buddhist religion and culture from ancient times. Famous for the production and export of tea, coffee, rubber and coconuts, Sri Lanka boasts natural beauty, tropical forests, beaches and landscapes, as well as its rich cultural heritage, making it a world famous tourist destination.
Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: Buddhist festivals, parks, wildlife sanctuaries, bazaars, markets, restaurants, temples, museums, palaces, hotels, and many more.
