Volunteer and Travel Tour in Sri Lanka

Turtle Conservation

This project was virtually wiped out by the South Asian Tsunami and has been struggling to get back on its feet. It is a temporary home to 700 eggs at any one time; 80 hatchlings in tank, a hawksbill; and an olive ridley turtle. And a permanent home to various other Tsunami damaged turtles. The project provides external veterinary support and some measure of protection for a highly endangered species. Rustic Volunteer Travel seeks volunteers to help make the public more aware of how endangered these beautiful creatures are and just how important it is to help protect them before it is too late. This hands-on approach gives volunteers a real feel for the turtle’s plight.
