Day Zero: Arrival and Transfer to Galle
Rustic Volunteers’ representative will meet you at the airport. You will travel to Galle straightaway. It takes about five hours maximum to reach Galle. You will be placed in a hostel or with a host family.
Day One: Orientation
Day one starts with an orientation. Among many things that will be briefed about volunteer program in Sri Lanka, and informed about the current heath and safety issues, lifestyles and about Sri Lankan history, culture, and customs. You’ll also visit Galle and witness local lifestyle.
Day Two - Ten: Volunteer Work in Galle’s Orphanage
You will arrive at the orphanage to begin your volunteer work. While working, provide the orphaned children with plenty of care and love and try to nurture their talents. Specific work will include, cleaning the children, changing their clothes, cleaning their room and their bed, making sure they are well fed, teaching English and any other creative games you might know. In your free time, visit nearby areas.
Day Eleven - Fourteen: Exploration of Sri Lanka
Day Eleven: Visit Polonnaruwa
Start your tour with a visit to Polonnaruwa. The place was the second capital of Sri Lanka from the 12th century. Encounter Royal Palace, the Audience Hall, and Shiva Temple.

Day Twelve: Explore Kandy
The city is build around a serene lake. Kandy was an ancient capital of Kandyan Kingdom. You will visit Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Tooth, where the country’s most important religious relics and the sacred tooth of the Buddha are preserved. Also included in the itinerary is the visit to the National Museum, a boat ride in the picturesque lake, and Sri Lanka’s largest botanical garden. Accommodation Simple Hotel, B/L/D
Day Thirteen: Visit Nuwara-Eliya
The city is situated 7200 above sea level. The cooler air here made this place favorite of the British during their rule in the 18th and 19th centuries. The region is one of the most fascinating places in Sri Lanka. Accommodation: Simple Hotel, B/L/D
Day Fourteen: Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
The orphanage has been running to look after young elephants abandoned by their mothers or lost from their herds. The orphanage feeds, nurses and houses these elephants. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lankan government as a sanctuary and is spread in over 25 acres of lush forest. The sanctuary has also started a breeding program. You’ll observe and assist the baby elephants who must be fed with large bottles before they plod down to the river for their daily bath.
