The Mini Quest program in Peru really does give you a chance to do many things in one little package. And with warm hospitality of Peruvian people to look forward to, this really is a true quest for you.

 
Detailed Itinerary

Day Zero: Arrive in Cusco
When you arrive at Cusco airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to home base. You will stay overnight at home base where dinner will be provided to you.

Day One: Orientation
Be part of the briefing on many important things. You will be told about health and safety issues, issues on children, project details and many others. You will spend overnight at home base. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.

Day Two: Work in project and Tour of the City
You will also be introduced with project staff. Later, tour Q'oricancha, the ancient Inca Temple of the Sun. Also tour Cusco's Cathedral, a 16th century church filled with original artwork and an amazing high altar made of silver. In the afternoon, you will tour four primary ruins surrounding Cusco, including Sacsaywaman, Q'enko, Tambomachay, and Puka Pukara. You will also receive “Tourist Ticket” which you can use in your free time to visit a number of museums and other attractions in and around Cusco.

You will stay overnight at home base. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.

Day Three-Six: Volunteer Work
Your volunteer placement will mostly be in an orphanage. Option exists to volunteer in a school to teach English. In orphanage, working hours vary. You will mostly work in the morning or in the evening. During the day, the children in the orphanage attend school. You will try to improve the lives of children. You will keep the children clean, change their clothes, make sure they are well fed, and teach the children English and any other subjects you will know. Volunteers are advised to have fun while helping the children.

You will stay at home base. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.

Day Seven: Off Day
Take a well deserved rest by exploring Cusco. You can you the “tourist ticket” to visit some impressive museums and ruins. In the evening, you will also have the opportunity to join in our free salsa lessons.

Day Eight: Tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas
The scared valley of the Incas tour attracts thousands of tourists each year. This is one of the most popular tours in Peru. The valley is a short drive away from Cusco. Visit many fascinating places including Pueblo of Pisac, Urubamba, and the archeological ruins at Ollantaytambo. Part of the trip also includes driving to a small village of Chincheros, a small village on the mountain plains. From there, watch the magnificent vistas of Andean peaks. It’s a day of breathtaking sightseeing.

Day Nine – Eleven: Continue Work
Continue with volunteer work after recharging your batteries with two days of tours.

Day Twelve: Aguas Calientes
Leave Cusco on a grand tour of the Andean mountains after completing work. Your first destination is Aguas Calientes, a gateway to the mystical and magical Machu Picchu. You will travel on a train. A guide will welcome you upon reaching Aguas Calientes. Enjoy the rest of the day strolling around the town soaking in the atmosphere of this ancient Incan town. There are hot springs around the city where you can go for a researching dip. Restaurants and shops litter the market place of Aguas Calientes. Shop around and dine at the place of your choice.

Overnight at a simple location. Only breakfast provided.

Day Thirteen: Machu Picchu
Travel to the place where the ‘Gods became the mountains’. Machu Picchu is also Peru’s best known landmark. Every year, millions flock to see this Incan marvel atop a remote hill. You will travel to a place on a bus after enjoying early morning breakfast. The ride takes 20 minutes. You will then be part of a 3-hour guided tour of the area. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see anything and listen to explanations the guide will provide you on many interesting things.

After completing the tour, you can trek to the top of Huayna Picchu, or choose to venture to see the Temple of the Moon, or visit Inkti Punktu, which means sun gate. Options to visit fascinating places abound in this hill side wonder.

Accommodation in a simple hotel. Only breakfast provided.

Day Fourteen: Free Day
Rest at Cusco by dawdling the day away. This is your last chance to bid farewell to project staffs. In the evening, celebrate the end of the program by taking a salsa lesion.

Day Fifteen: Leaven Cusco
The end of tour.
