Work in Orphanage
Trip Code: NPL1

This beautiful mountainous kingdom has been suffering 10 years. Affected by extreme poverty, internal conflicts, social discrimination, and lack of opportunities hundreds of orphan children leave their villages and come to Kathmandu in search of work. Different individuals and social organizations have set up orphanages in Nepal to protect these kids by offer homely environment, education (up to 12 classes), and skill training opportunities.

Presently, Rustic Volunteer Travel has been collaborating with 20 different orphanages of Kathmandu and supporting them by sending volunteers to use their education, skill, and time making meaningful contributions in the life of orphan kids of Nepal . Volunteers/travelers can benefit by supplying these orphans with much-needed love and companionship as well as a solid foundation to meet their needs and nurture their interests and ultimately make their dreams for a brighter future become reality.

Project/Volunteer's Life:
As a volunteer in the orphanage project in Nepal, you will teach English (3-4 hours a day) in the orphanage or school. You will help kids to stay clean by helping them in brushing teeth, shower, and personal hygiene. In free time, mostly in evening, you organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extracurricular activities. In the evening time, you will help kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, and make sure kids complete next day's homework. If you do not want to teach in the school during day time, then you can offer to take care of the children who stay at the orphanage (who cannot go to school). Your help is also expected in dressing of kids, food distribution, kitchen, garden, cleaning and administrative work.

Project Locations:

Orphanage projects are available in Kathmandu (capital city of Nepal with places of great tourist attractions like Thamel, Patan, Swaymbhu, etc.) and Chitwan (Royal Bengal Tiger and the Great One Horned Rhino Mt Everest) , with shops, banks & internet cafes nearby. Nepal is renowned for its spectacular landscape and deep, exotic culture. It's full of contrasts: from traditional culture and history of houses made up of a tight bamboo framework with mud and cow-dung walls to modern urban infrastructure and much of the amenities you would expect from a city.

Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: hiking, biking, palaces, art, temples, mountains, national parks, restaurants, hotels, clubs and many more.
