Detailed Itinerary
Day Zero
Arrival in Nepal, transfer to the home base.
Day One: Introduction and Orientation
After you are received at the airport and transferred to Rustic Volunteer’s office you will be given an orientation. The orientation will brief you on safety issues, climate, project details, field condition and about the home base
You will then be involved in a cultural tour of the city after orientation.
Day Two - Eight: Community Project Commences (work in orphanage)
On day two, you will start your project work. While in the orphanage, improve the lives of the children by sharing your love and skills to the orphans. Look after their person hygiene and make sure they understand what is taught in school. When you have free time, explore rural Nepal and discover its natural beauty, its intriguing culture, and its spirited people. Our local field staff will assist you in pointing out sites that are off the beaten path.
Day Nine – Thirteen: Himalayan Trekking (Five Days)
Day Nine: Kathmandu to Pokhara to Tirkhe Dhunga
Start of your well deserved tour with a bus ride to Pokhara and onwards to Naya Pul. The Naya Pul (or New Bridge in English) is located along the banks of Modi River. Take an easy stroll on the first day to get yourself acquainted with the terrain and arrive in Birenthani.
Birenthani is a large village situated on the old Nepal-Tibet trading route. You will pass through checkpoints and continue through intricately-terraced rice paddies, before arriving at Tirkhe Dhunga for an overnight stay. Overnight accommodation at a tea house, and meals not included.
Day Ten: Tirkhe Dhunga to Ghorepani
It’s mostly uphill today. Start by crossing a stream and follow the steep stone staircase to arrive at Ulleri. The village of Ulleri is situated at 2070 meters and is inhabited by people of Magar ethnic group. Onwards, you will trek through rhododendron and oak forests, across streams before making a short, final ascent to Nangethanti. From Nangethanti, continue the trek up to Ghorepani for an overnight stay. Overnight accommodation at a tea house and meals not included.
Day Eleven: Ghorepani to Ghandrung
You will get up early and ascent the summit of Poon Hill. The sunrise from the hilltop at 3195 meters is breathtaking to say the list. On a clear day, you will also see majestic panoramic of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manalsu Himalayas. Afterwards, descend to the lodge for a late breakfast before continuing onto Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, the walk is all downhill through beautiful forests before arriving at the village of Banthanti – finally ending the day's journey at Tadapani for an overnight stay. Overnight accommodation at a tea house and meals not included.
Day Twelve: Ghandrung to Dhampus
After breakfast, you will walk downhill until you are in Modi Khola. Cross a stream and start ascending to Landrung. The village is a small settlement but offers magnificent views of Annapurna, Fishtail and Himchuli. While trekking witness amazing views of the Himalayas. Then, head for the town of Deurali and view the Dhaulagiri Mountain, the highest mountain in western Nepal. You will descend from Deurali to Dhampus, a large village spread along a hilltop inhabited by numerous ethnic groups (Gurung, Brahman, Magar, etc.). Overnight accommodation at a tea house and meals not included.
Day Thirteen: Dhampus to Pokhara to Kathmandu
On the last day, you will trek through paddy fields, villages and descent to Pokhara-Baglung Highway. From there, catch a bus to Pokhara, approximately 30-minute drive, and then arrive in Kathmandu. Overnight accommodation at home base only Dinner included.
The Itinerary presented above is a sampled one and is subject to change depending upon field conditions. This proposed itinerary will be finalized during orientation in Kathmandu.
