Tentative Schedule

Days Program Brief
Start Orientation and Language Phase
Day 1: You’ll be welcomed at the airport by our staff rep, who will be holding a sign with your name written on it. You’ll then be transferred to our home base where you’ll settle into a basic room
Day 2: Start with an orientation program where you’ll learn about the current situation in Nepal. Ask about anything that you think will be helpful during your stay in Nepal. Our knowledgeable staff will answer all your queries. You’ll also be given a schedule on how your cultural program will proceed.
Day 3: You’ll start your Nepali language class. Though English is widely understood in Nepal, most of the poor and the uneducated in Nepal only speak in their local language. Since you’ll be working with them, developing your ability to communicate in local language will come very handy.
Day 4: A day of enjoying the sights and sounds of Kathmandu. You’ll tour Pashupati, Boudha and Swayumbhu temples, where you’ll encounter intriguing culture and religious practice. During the tour, you’re encouraged to ask questions and learn as much as you can. Take pictures and talk to local people.
Day 5: Back to learning local Nepali language. You’ll learn in a fun kind of way, interacting and practicing what you’ve learned with your fellow volunteers and the tutors.
Day 6: You’ll continue with your language and your learning will step up a notch as you start to construct sentences and communicate more effectively.
Day 7: Last day of the program – there will be a small appraisal and your strengths and weaknesses in the language you’ve just learned with be evaluated. Remember this is not a test and you won’t fail or pass. Also, during the language instruction, your tutor will be passing on valuable information about Nepal, the prevailing cultural practices, and the dos and the don’ts.

This schedule is subject to change depending upon the local situation. Our country coordinator will provide you the accurate schedule during the orientation program.
