Detailed Itinerary
Date: June 28-July25, 2010
Day Zero: Arrival
Volunteers will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the Rustic Hostel in Nairobi.
Day One: Orientation in Nairobi
Meet with Rustic Volunteer‘s staff members and participate in a general question/answer sessions, discuss program itinerary, general orientation on history, culture, tradition, and other important issues (health, safety), and exploration of nearby areas in free time
Service Projects - Work in an Orphanage
Day Two – Twenty Two: Work in Orphanage (21 days)
Enjoy the warm and welcoming hospitality of Kenyan people while living with a host family and working with local people. For 22 days, participants will work in an orphanage sharing their love and time with the needy children in Nairobi and Mombasa. Volunteers will teach them basic conversational English and encourage them to face the challenging world where English is becoming more and more of a necessity. You can organize games, drawing lessons, singing, dancing, and other creative educational and extra-curricular activities. In free time, participants can hike to nearby bazaars and/or hillsides; explore the beauty of mesmerizing.
Day Twenty Three: Closing of service project and preparation of Safari
Day Twenty Four – Twenty Eight: Kenya Safari and Excursions (5 days/4 nights)
Day Twenty Four: Starting with Explore Amboseli National Park
Begin your safari with a drive to Amboseli National Park where you can see Mount Kilimanjaro. Considered a land of giants, Amboseli is world famous for its massive herds of elephant, including some impressively tusked bulls drawn to the area's large, lush swamplands. It is also known for its fascinating view of the ever snow-covered Mount Kilimanjaro. The park shares a number of border with Tanzania and various Maasai communities. Amboseli is an amazing gift of natural wonder and home to various birds, small mammals, cheetahs and more.

Day Twenty Five: Lake Nakuru National Park
Travel to Thompson Falls, followed by a descent to the floor of the daunting Rift Valley and onto Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is set in a picturesque landscape surrounded by forests and grasslands, spotted with marshes and altering outcroppings of rock cliff faces and acacia trees. First featured as a bird sanctuary, Lake Nakuru was eventually reclassified as a national park in 1968. Today, some of this park's amazing and natural attractions include: flamingo, a massive catalog of terrestrial birds and more than 56 species of mammals as well as numerous waterfalls throughout.

Days Twenty Six – Twenty Seven: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
For the next two days, explore the enchanting land of the world-famous Maasai, a cattle-herding tribe still untouched by the trappings of the western world. Widely considered Africa's greatest wildlife reserve, the Mara is home to an awesome array of wildlife including zebra, giraffe, gazelle, elephant, buffalo, antelope, birds (just to name a few). During migration season, the Mara hosts the world's most amazing natural spectacle: the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest from the Serengeti. The Mara is a great natural wonder and is also home to a number of great cats such as lions and cheetahs.

Day Twenty Eight: Maasai Mara to Nairobi
Awake for one last early morning game drive through the Maasai Mara
Game Reserve followed the journey back to Nairobi.
