Language and Cultural Immersion Program - Kenya Trip code: KEN7
The program enables volunteers to intrinsically learn about Kenya before starting your volunteer program. The 7-day program is designed in such a way to give our volunteers a glimpse into life in Kenya and what mentality of the people is like, and how you can successfully overcome any hurdles you might encounter while in Kenya. You'll learn the local language, so you can communicate effectively. You'll also tour historic, cultural and religious sites that made Kenya what it is today and learn about the prevailing socioeconomic and political situation. It's an intriguing program full of insight into daily life in Kenya.

Days
Program Brief
Day 1:
Short reception at the office of the Rustic Volunteer program. An orientation program will follow in which you'll learn about the current situation in Kenya, including about health and safety. You're encouraged to ask about anything that you think will be helpful during your stay in Kenya. Our knowledgeable staff will answer all your queries. You'll also be given a schedule of how your cultural program will proceed.
Day 2:
Start of your local language class. English is widely understood in Kenya. However, the poor, uneducated of Kenya only speak and understand their local language and you'll be interacting and working with these people. You'll start your program with popular expressions and words.
Day 3:
You'll continue with your language training class. You'll learn in a fun kind of way, interacting and practicing what you've learned with your fellow volunteers and the tutors.
Day 4:
Sightseeing tour of Nairobi. You'll visit places of historical and cultural significance, including museums and ancient ruins.
Day 5:
You'll continue with your language and your learning will step up a notch as you start to construct sentences and communicating more effectively.
Day 6:
You’ll continue with your language class.
Please remember that during language instruction, your tutor will be passing on valuable information about Kenya, the prevailing cultural practices, and the dos and the don’ts.
Day 7:
Last day of the program - there will be a small appraisal and your strengths and weaknesses in the language you've just learned with be evaluated. Remember this is not a test and you won't fail or pass.
