Volunteer Travel Kenya

Health Care Project
Trip code: KEN3

There is an obvious lack of manpower and resources in the local hospitals, which are located in the outer city areas and villages and urgently, need volunteers. Rustic Volunteer's has partnered with local hospitals in Kenya to provide volunteers who have the ability and want to share their knowledge, time, skills and talents with the health care staff of the centers. Participating in a health care volunteer project opens tremendous opportunities for volunteers to experience new opportunities in their lives and careers, allows volunteers to immerse themselves in another culture, and provides a positive contribution to the community where the need is the greatest.

Project/Volunteer's Life:

Job responsibilities of Rustic volunteers/travelers joining as a medical volunteer vary with education, skills, experience, and qualifications. Volunteers/Interns are not allowed to perform the major identification or surgery works. Most of the time volunteers help doctors or work as an assistant to doctors. Volunteers measure BP, temperature, height, weight Assist doctors and medical staffs with health center tasks. You also help in health camps (if any), distribute medicines, provide tips to patients on health, nutrition and sanitation and counseling patients, and involve yourself in the treatment for minor injuries or wounds and keeping patient records.

Medical volunteers without credentials are not allowed to work in this program because of the potential risk. Project Locations:

Health projects are available in the towns of Nairobi (featuring Nairobi National Park, Safari park and National Museum of Kenya) and Mombasa (home to Fort Jesus, Mombasa Tusks, and Gedi Ruins). Kenya's multicultural metropolitan cities are renowned for its deep rooted cultural atmosphere where visitors are always welcomed. It's full of contrasts: from traditional culture and history to modern infrastructure and most of the amenities you would expect from a city. Volunteers can organize several combinations of potential excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place that the volunteers can use during weekends. For example: national parks, ice rinks, markets, museums, restaurants, nightclubs, tourist villages, mausoleums, art galleries, golf courses, crocodile farms, nature trails, hotels, Bombolulu workshops and many more.
