Detailed Itinerary

Date: June 28-July25, 2010

Day One – Seven: Orientation, Language and Cultural Immersion in New Delhi (Seven days)
You will spend your first week in Delhi by studying Hindi language, learning the cultural distinctions, and uncovering the religious allure that makes India unique.

Day Zero: Arrive in Indira Gandhi Airport
You will be met by Rustic’s staff member upon arrival and get transferred to Rustic Travel’s India office.

Day One: Hindi language classes begin
Learn words of greetings, affirmative & negative, pronouns, short expressions, and more about getting to know each other. In the free time, explore the bustling markets and vibrant commercial areas.

Day Two: Language classes continue
Learn more on verbs, adjectives, adverbs, family relations, food and drinks, and how to appreciate something. Explore the nearby cafés and mall in your free time.

Day Three: Visit Old Delhi
Explore the captivating tourist attractions of Old Delhi. Some of the most delightful attractions include Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; Rajghat, the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948; the renowned colorful shopping bazaar of Old Delhi.

Built in 1656 AD, Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India. The tomb was constructed when Shah Jahan decided to make Delhi his capital. The mosque took about six years to complete and required about 5,000 laborers and craftsmen.

Day Four: Classes continue
Learn more Hindi words (names of places, animals, birds, directions, body parts, days, months, shopping, traveling). In your free time, explore the bustling markets and vibrant commercial areas – all while trying to use your newfound language.

Day Five: Explore New Delhi
Discover the delightful sites of the dazzling city of Delhi. Drive through the wide lanes of New Delhi and explore some of the most fascinating tourist attractions the city has to offer.

Day Six: Language Classes Finishes
Closing of language program, evaluation, and departure for project.

Day Seven – Twenty One: Community Work - Work in Orphanage in Delhi (Fifteen days)
India is washed to poor and orphaned children. Often the orphanages struggle to cope with the volume of children they can take in. Their financial resources are always strained. In this circumstance, volunteers can contribute a lot by taking care of the children and relieving orphanage staff of some of their work. You will look after the personal hygiene of the children, teach them English and other stuffs and play games with them. Evenings are free for volunteers to explore the surrounding areas.

Upon completion of the project, volunteers will return to our office to be briefed about the next day's tour program and the places they will visit (includes topics such as home stay, transportation, conduct, and clothing).

Day Twenty Two: Closing of the service project

Day Twenty Three – Twenty Seven: Explore the Golden Triangle (Five days)
The highlight of the tour starts with Golden Triangle of North India where you will witness grand buildings and sites in three absorbing cities of Agra, Jaipur and Delhil.

Day Twenty Three: Travel to and Explore Jaipur
Travel to Jaipur, approximately 4-5 hours. In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion to the Amber Fort, and experience the thrill of riding on the back of an elephant. Visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory as well as the Wind Palace (Hawa Mahal).

Day Twenty Four: Explore Jaipur and then travel to Fatehpur Sikri
Visit city palace and Jal Mahal. In the afternoon, travel to Fatehpur Sikri, a drive of approximately 4 hours.

Day Twenty Five: Explore Fatehpur Sikri and then travel to Agra
Visit Naubat Khana, Diwan-i-am, Diwan-i-Khas, Mariam-uz-Zamani, Buland Darwaza and many fascinating sites in Mughal Empire’s first capital in India.

Day Twenty Six: Explore Agra
Spend your day visiting Red Fort, the palace of the Mughals, the local market, and the world renowned Taj Mahal.

Day Twenty Seven: Travel to Delhi,

Day Twenty Eight: End of the tour
Program Concludes with a farewell and certification distribution
