| Project/Volunteer's Life: |
Volunteers will assist school-based educators as well as language institutes in teaching English to young children throughout Honduras . Volunteers can expect to assist in developing conversational and (possibly) grammatical English skills. Volunteer may also lend their personal expertise in designing learning activities to encourage the younger learners' participation and interests. Volunteer will also support teachers who are already in the process of instructing Honduran children enrolled in English-teaching curriculums. Administrative duties of educational institutes may be required of volunteers as well. Educating the younger learners pertaining to issues of personal hygiene and sanitation may also be required.

| Skills and Qualification |
No specific qualifications are required to join the English-teaching project in Honduras . However, interested individuals should have a passion and desire to teach younger children (and occasionally teenagers) and be comfortable fulfilling the role of English-instructors and/or teachers' aides. While Spanish is preferred it is not required. All volunteers are encouraged to be flexible, patient and adaptive. |

| Project Locations: |
Teaching English projects are available in Copan Ruinas (home to the Mayan Empire, Bay Island). World famous for its archaeology, Honduras is full of natural and cultural diversity. Its strong cultural heritage is based on its ethnic diversity -- a mixture of indigenous European and African races. About 90 percent of the Honduran population is mestizo, a mixture of indigenous, African, and Spanish races also referred to as Ladino. It’s full of contrasts: from traditional culture and history to modern urban infrastructure and much of the amenities you would expect from a city. Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: snorkeling, Mayan ruins, scuba diving, hiking, reef diving, mountains, art, milk fairs, festivals, caves, ecological parks, hotels, and many more.
