HIV/AIDS Projects

Recently, Honduras has begun to experience rapid growth in HIV infections, accounting for nearly 60 percent of all cases reported in Central America. Roughly 80 percent of all reported cases are attributable to heterosexual transmission, and studies indicate that between 1 and 4 percent of pregnant women have been infected with the virus. In partnership with various local schools, Rustic Volunteer Travel strives to advance adolescent reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention. Loving, caring volunteers are needed to work as mentors in attempt to reach the maximum number of people possible; especially the younger generation and the children who are even more vulnerable to this deadly disease. Volunteers can gain instant gratification by knowing that they helped to reduce the stigma of being HIV-positive and combated discrimination.
