Language and Cultural Immersion Program - Ghana Trip code: GHA6
The program enables volunteers to intrinsically learn about Ghana before starting your volunteer program. The 7-day program is designed to give our volunteers a glimpse into life in Ghana and what the mentality of the people is like, and how you can overcome any hurdles you might encounter while in Ghana. You'll learn the local language, so you can communicate effectively. You'll also tour historic, cultural and religious sites that made Ghana what it is today and learn about prevailing socio-economic and political situation. It's an intriguing program full of insight into daily life in Ghana.

Days
Program Brief
Day 1:
Short reception at the office of Rustic Volunteer. An orientation program will follow in which you'll learn about the current situation in Ghana, including about health and safety. You're encouraged to ask about anything that you think will be helpful during your stay in Ghana. Our knowledgeable staff will answer all your queries. You'll also be given a schedule of how your cultural program will proceed.
Day 2:
Start of your local language class. English is widely understood in Ghana. However, the poor uneducated communities of Ghana only speak and understand their local language and you'll be interacting and working with these people. You'll start your program with popular expressions and words.
Day 3:
You'll continue with your language training class. You'll learn in a fun kind of way, interacting and practicing what you've learned with your fellow volunteers and the tutors.
Day 4:
Day of tours. You'll visit places of historical and cultural significance, including museums and ancient ruins.
Day 5:
You'll continue with your language and your learning will step up a notch as you start to construct sentences and communicating more effectively.
Day 6:
You'll continue with your language class. During language instruction, your tutor will be passing on valuable information about Ghana, the prevailing cultural practices, and the dos and the don'ts.
Day 7:
Last day of the program - there will be a small appraisal and your strengths and weaknesses in the language you've just learned with be evaluated. Remember this is not a test and you won't fail or pass.
