HIV/AIDS Projects Trip code: BRA3
A disease affecting all citizens (regardless of race, sexual orientation, age) of all countries (industrialized or developing), HIV/AIDS continue to decimate populations around the world.
In affiliation with various health clinics and educational outreach organizations, Rustic Volunteer Travel desperately needs volunteers to assist in a wide range of activities to help slow the spread of and educate others about HIV/AIDS.

| Project/Volunteer's Life: |
Volunteers in Rustic Volunteer Travel's HIV/AIDS projects will assist a number of organizations (NGOs, governmental, community-based, etc.) in educating the Brazilian masses about the spread and acquisition of HIV/AIDS. Public health campaigns addressing the issues surrounding those affected by HIV/AIDS are in constant need of help in all areas - outreach, psychological aspects, medical advice, etc. Volunteers will supply much-needed assistance to healthcare professionals, social workers, health clinics, non-profit organizations, and government agencies through Rio de Janeiro .

| Skills and Qualification |
No specific qualifications are required to join the volunteer HIV/AIDS project in Brazil . While Portuguese is preferred it is not required. All volunteers are encouraged to be flexible, patient and adaptive. |

| Meals/Accommodations: |
Rustic Volunteer Travel arranges living accommodations and three (3) meals a day in a nearby volunteer house located in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood located in the sprawling city of Rio de Janeiro . Within walking distance, participants will find the world-famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, the "sambadroma" (location where samba schools compete), pristine beaches, numerous restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, a health clinic as well as easy access the city's public transportation. Volunteers staying in the volunteer house receive cable television, use of the kitchen, internet access, as well as laundry and cleaning services. Additional details pertaining to living accommodations will be included in participants' details prior to their arrival in Brazil . |

| Project Locations: |
HIV/AIDS projects are available in Rio de Janeiro (nicknamed A Cidade Maravilhosa - "The Marvelous City"). Heavily influenced by Portuguese culture, Brazil is renown for its spectacular natural setting, its Carnival celebrations, samba and other music, hotel-lined tourist beaches, paved with decorated black and cream swirl pattern mosaics. Most of its cities offer an urban mosaic and amenities you would expect from any city.
Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: architecture, museums, city tours, water falls, Amazon rain forests, soccer, festivals, restaurants, art, music, hotels, and much more.
